Shoelace Knots is a piece for trombone trio that was written after looking at inspiring images of different shoelace knots. Not only shoelace knots were researched, but also many fun lacing styles as well. I wanted to try the star lace, but quickly found out that making fun shoelace styles is quite the challenge. This piece was created out of a mix of frustration with attempting to lace shoes in unique styles, alongside a desire to musically express different types of shoelace knots. Shoelace Knots has a lot of twists and turns throughout its duration, much like shoelaces.
