Drowning, Drowning is a work for digital media composed/produced in February 2023. This piece is deeply personal to me, as it represents fighting through stress while experiencing burnout, ultimately leading to drowning in a sea of sorrow. I composed this piece to express my feelings about what I was going through. I was depressed and wanted to give up for so long. The use of uneven meter, dissonance, swelling dynamic, and unusual instrumentation are all elements I utilized to convey the feelings I was going through at the time. Composing this piece helped me in so many ways I cannot express in words. Despite this piece ending in a complete submersion of sadness, this piece gave me motivation to keep on going and started my road to recovery.
